A major element of responsible tractor ownership is to keep up with regular maintenance. Your machine is only going to run as well as you allow it to, so without some basic checks, you could find yourself out of commission while you wait for a repair worker to hand you an astronomical bill. Make sure these three maintenance checks are part of your daily routine to keep your tractor and your operation running smoothly!

Before You Start: Consult Your Owner’s Manual

Before you perform any maintenance, make sure you review your owner’s manual. This will give you more specific instructions on how to care for your model and should answer any troubleshooting questions you run into along the way.

1. Tire Check

The tires are the foundation of your tractor, so take some time to ensure they’re properly inflated and free of wear or damage. Proper inflation levels should be indicated in your owner’s manual and you can use a standard tire gauge to measure current psi. And if you spot any damage to one of the tires, get them checked out right away.

2. Engine Fluids

Your tractor’s engine requires a few fluids to ensure it’s running smoothly. Make sure the oil and radiator fluid levels are adequate and that their quality is up to par. Top off any fluids that are running low and replace any that look old.

3. Fuel Stabilizer

This won’t be an everyday kind of maintenance tip, but if you know your tractor is going to be sitting for long periods of time, you’ll need to add a fuel stabilizer. This will keep the fuel in your tank from going bad when you’re not using it. You can even add it to your backup fuel sources!

Sometimes, though, you just need a pro to look at your tractor. When this happens, contact our service department at Ball Equipment and we’ll get you up and running again. You can find us in Richmond and Sandusky, MI, serving all of Detroit.
