If you’ve made plans to travel with your UTV, we advise taking a look at our helpful hauling tips below! If you plan to pass by Richmond or Sandusky, Michigan, we encourage you to stop and visit us here at Ball Equipment for all of your off-roading needs.

Towing vs Hauling

If you’re traveling long distances, we strongly advise against towing your UTV. While towing takes less prep than hauling, it's usually much more difficult to drive safely, especially at higher speeds. You’re also much more likely to damage your UTV, especially if you tow it for an extended period of time. If you’re not careful, you may find that your UTV will need new tires and its suspension recalibrated after it's been towed.

Tools

Before you start loading your UTV into the back of your vehicle, make sure you have all of these helpful tools on hand: wheel chocks, tie-down anchors, straps or bungee cords, wheel ramps, and an empty gas can (in case of an emergency).  These should keep your UTV from slipping around as you drive and should make loading your vehicle much easier as well.

Vehicle

Before you make plans to haul your UTV cross country, you’ll need to check your tow vehicle’s towing and weight capacities. Thankfully, both of these numbers are recorded in your vehicle’s manual. If you don’t know your UTV’s weight, it should also be listed in its owner's manual. When looking up your tow vehicle’s weight limitations remember that you’ll also need to factor in the weight of your gear and passengers.
