ATV Safety Tips
ATVs are powerful, fun, and fast, but they can also be pretty dangerous. We here at Ball Equipment want to help you enjoy your rides and get your work done without getting hurt, so we’ve put together some ATV safety tips below. To learn more, or to see the ATVs we have for sale, contact our stores in Richmond and Sandusky, Michigan, today!
The Outfit
ATV safety begins with your riding gear. You’ll need:
A crash-test certified helmet, either motorcycle or motocross
Eye protection (if your helmet isn’t full-face)
A long-sleeved shirt and long pants or a padded riding suit
Riding gloves with good grip
Boots with good grip that go above the ankle
Also make sure to tie back long hair and avoid wearing loose or flowing clothes that might get caught on obstacles.
The Methods
The best safety gear in the world can only do so much if you don’t ride safely. Stay focused and only ride when you’re at your best, meaning never ride under the influence or when sick or exhausted. Try to stick to good weather riding, and obey any and all posted speed limits—they’re there for a reason.
Preventative Maintenance
And of course, keeping your ATV in good condition is just as important. If there’s any maintenance that needs doing, no matter how minor, it might impact your riding experience and safety. Keep up with preventative maintenance and regular service visits as recommended by your owner’s manual.
